HD Series - Continuous Ultrasonic Antifouling Protection For Recreational and Light-Watercraft

Hull Shield’s HD Series for recreational and light-watercraft offers premium antifouling protection and value. With years of successful service to boaters around the world, Hull Shield technology has become a preferred choice for those who want the most effective antifouling solution available.

Hull Shield keeps your hull cleaner for longer. This reduces the frequency and intensity of abrasive hull cleaning, resulting in a significant increase of the life of your bottom paint. Save thousands in maintenance while enjoying continuous antifouling protection.  Hull Shield Ultrasonic systems work continuously to target and prevent bio-fouling from developing on hulls, drives, rudders, thrusters, and more.

Stop wasting time and money on costly paints, repairs, haul-outs, and maintenance. Hull Shield will provide you a better boating experience, more time on the water, and more money in your pocket.

Ultrasonic Fouling for all Boat Types - Power Catamaran, Sailboat, V-Hull, Yacht, & Industrial

Fully automatic hull protection sized to your needs. Hull Shield ultrasonic antifouling systems can be used as stand-alone units or combined to provide protection of vessels of any size. Combining systems can extend range and the intensity of ultrasonic antifouling protection.

HD1

Ultrasonic Antifouling System

For Hulls, Drives, & More

The HD1 is a single transducer unit engineered as a stand-alone system that can be used to protect hulls, drives, rudders, stabilizers, and more.

This unit can also be combined with other Hull Shield systems to extend protective range and/or anti-fouling intensity.

This system is equipped with a single transducer emitter used to generate the ultrasonic signals which disrupt marine fouling.

This system provides an automated ECO low-power mode compatible with solar & wind power supplies.

The HD series offers an increased efficiency profile that is capable of delivering nearly double the power directly to the transducers when compared to prior versions. All HD series products feature our latest hardware technology that boosts overall effectiveness. HD series products provide more than twice as many frequencies and ultrasound bursts in key targeted ranges as compared to previous versions.

HD4

Ultrasonic Antifouling System

For Hulls, Drives, & More

The Hull Shield HD4 ultrasonic antifouling system for boats protects bottom paint and gear with ultrasound.

The HD4 is a four transducer unit engineered as a stand-alone system which can be used to add antifouling protection to hulls, drives, rudders, stabilizers, and more.

This unit can also be combined with other Hull Shield systems to extend protective range and/or anti-fouling intensity.

This system is equipped with four transducer emitters used to generate the ultrasonic signals which disrupt marine fouling.

This system provides an automated ECO low-power mode compatible with solar & wind power supplies.

Ultrasonic Antifouling Technology

Continuous Antifouling Protects your Vessel from Fouling.

Ultrasonic antifouling works by using sound waves to physically repel fouling organisms away from the surface before they can permanently attach. As a bonus, the higher frequency band of ultrasound also disrupts the reproductive cycles of certain types of bio-fouling.

Hull Shield systems operate similar to a stereo and speakers. The controller sends ultrasound signals to transducers attached to the hull or running gear, the transducers receive the high-frequency signals, transforming them into ultrasonic pulses.

Each pulse creates a microscopic shockwave that runs across the hull and drive gear. These ultrasonic waves work to ablate, loosen, and repel fouling which is contacting the hull and drive surfaces. When used in conjunction with an ablative bottom paint, Hull Shield systems are the most effective and long-term antifouling solution available.

Ultrasonic Antifouling Hull Coverage

Stay cleaner for longer while extending the functional lifespan of your bottom paint.

Each transducer provides approximately 200sqft of protected underwater surface area. A rough estimate of your underwater surface area can be calculated by doubling your draft, adding it to your beam, then multiplying by your LWL (length at water line)

Ultrasonic Antifouling for Drives

Not just for hulls – Hull Shield can protect your drives and running gear too!

Drives are isolated from the hull by motor mounts, gaskets, seals and other insulative materials that block ultrasound from passing to shafts, props, and rudders. Because of this, the drive system requires dedicated transducers to gain the most benefit from ultrasonic anti-fouling. Inboards, pods, sterndrives, and sail-drives can all be fitted with a transducer to enable full anti-fouling protection. Rudders are isolated from the hull in the same way as the drives and also require a dedicated transducer.

One transducer can provide dedicated protection for any single isolated part. Examples of isolated parts are drive shaft & props, rudders, exterior engine brackets, struts, & stabilizers. Because these parts are isolated from the hull and each other, a transducer is required for each independent part.

Have a 24V Battery System? We Have you Covered...
Victron Energy - Our Tested & Approved Recommendation

Hull Shield HD systems produce ultrasound from a 12V battery system input (compatible with most boat battery systems). If you have a vessel which does not have 12V battery system voltages available, then we have you covered.

Connecting Hull Shield HD systems to a 24V battery system can be done simply with a 24/12 power converter. The Victron Orion 24/12 converter is our “tested and approved” recommendation and supplies clean and efficient power to all of our HD products. The Victron Orion 24/12 is affordable option and can be purchased with your order directly through us.

We also recommend to have a Victron 24/12 BatteryProtect placed inline between the 24V battery system and and the Victron Orion converter. The BatteryProtect can automatically turn-off the converter if it senses the 24V battery system voltage levels are below a preset threshold. This can protect the batteries from being drained if they are not being maintained.

Victron Orion 24/12 DC-DC Converter

Victron Energy

Perfect for 24V to 12V power conversion.

The Victron Orion 24/12 DC-DC 25A converter features a compact rugged design for use in harsh conditions. This converter is perfect for 24V marine applications where a 12V battery system voltage is required.

Compact yet powerful, this Victron Orion DC-DC converter can provide 25 amps of continuous current. This converter can easily accommodate the current requirements of up to four Hull Shield HD4 systems.

This converter is factory set to output a regulated supply voltage of 13.2V and can also be used as a battery charger.

Get the battery protection you need.

The Victron BatteryProtect 12/24-Volt disconnects the battery from non-essential loads before the battery becomes completely discharged, protecting the batteries from damage while preserving of battery capacity for important tasks.

The BatteryProtect can also be used as a charge interrupter in between a battery charger and a Li-ion battery. See connection diagram in the manual. In this mode the BatteryProtect can be controlled by the VE.Bus BMS.

The Victron BatteryProtect can be set to engage / disengage at several different voltages. The seven segment display will indicate which setting has been chosen.
